A meeting point between an independent cultural venue and a curatorial approach
An exhibition by Galerie Artistes Actuels at La Distillerie — a café-bookshop and performance venue — a heritage venue open to the arts and to a wide range of creative expressions. A beautiful dialogue between literature, visual arts, music and wine.
Original artworks at accessible prices, cultural mediation, the presence of the artists, and a rich partnership between an art gallery and a bookshop — bringing value to artists, audiences and the local area.
7 Place Vauquelin, 14130 Pont-l’Évêque
Open daily except Tuesdays, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., or by appointment.
Opening reception on Saturday, July 25, in the presence of the artists.
« Il est l’heure de s’enivrer !
Pour n’être pas les esclaves martyrisés du Temps, enivrez-vous sans cesse !
De vin, de poésie ou de vertu, à votre guise. »
Charles Beaudelaire
La Distillerie is a 280 m² bookshop-café located in the heart of the Pays d’Auge, in Pont-l’Évêque, at 7 Place Vauquelin. Set within a former distillery, it has been carefully renovated in keeping with its original materials — brick, beams, cobblestones and columns — and features a 40 m² stage, a grand piano, and tastefully sourced vintage furniture, including Chesterfield sofas, an oak bookcase, a billiard table and Scrabble sets.
Through its weekly events — literary concerts, musical readings, talks, book signings and exhibitions — books leave the shelves and come to life on stage, in movement, voice and music.
Coming and discovering Normandy
Between land and sea, the Pays d’Auge is famous for its “Côte Fleurie” (Honfleur, Trouville, Deauville, Houlgate), its rolling bocage landscape, its horse breeding, and its local products made from apples (cider, calvados) and milk (camembert, pont-l’évêque, livarot). Come and discover landscapes, architectural nuggets and arts with Distill’Art !
